Celebrate Earth Day by embracing a healthier planet and better hearing! Did you know that this special day is not just about environmental protection but also about safeguarding your hearing health? One of the most pressing environmental challenges linked to hearing loss is noise pollution.

Understanding Noise Pollution and Its Impact on Hearing

Noise pollution consists of disruptive or harmful sounds that upset the natural harmony of our surroundings, posing risks to both human health and wildlife. From bustling industrial activities and busy transportation systems to relentless construction work and urban sprawl, these noise sources can gradually impair your hearing.

Back in 1974, the World Health Organization pioneered research on noise pollution, revealing its significant role in health issues like hypertension and hearing loss.

The Impact of Noise Pollution:

  • Hearing loss: Prolonged exposure to loud noises can gradually impair your hearing.
  • Stress and anxiety: Persistent noise can heighten stress and anxiety levels.
  • Sleep disturbances: Noise pollution can disrupt your sleep, leading to fatigue and other health issues.
  • Wildlife impact: Excessive noise can interfere with animal communication, mating, and navigation.

Taking Action

Join the global movement on April 22 for Earth Day, a celebration of environmental protection and sustainability. The 2025 theme, "Our Power, Our Planet," emphasizes our collective responsibility.

Reducing Noise Pollution

Earth Day initiatives advocate for quieter, healthier environments, safeguarding our hearing.

Promoting Green Spaces

Parks and nature reserves act as natural shields against urban noise. Spending time in these areas can alleviate stress and enhance mental well-being, indirectly supporting hearing health by reducing the risk of noise-induced hearing loss. Earth Day activities often involve tree planting and creating green spaces, fostering a quieter, healthier world.

Encouraging Sustainable Practices

Adopting sustainable practices, such as cutting air pollution and promoting clean energy, benefits overall health, including hearing. Cleaner air means fewer pollutants affecting respiratory health, which is linked to hearing health. Earth Day advocates for these practices, paving the way for a healthier planet for all.

In our increasingly noisy world, especially with advancing technology, protecting your hearing is crucial.

Your Help is Needed!

For years, Envoy Medical has been at the forefront of advocating for insurance coverage of the Esteem® implant. In October 2024, the American Medical Association (AMA) approved new **Category III billable codes (CPT) codes for totally implantable active middle ear implants*.

These temporary codes are for emerging technologies, services, and procedures. and become active in July of this year.

While the inclusion or exclusion of a procedure/service does not imply any health insurance coverage or reimbursement policy, it could pave the way for insurance support in the future.

We are hoping to gather health insurance details to better understand the scope and number of providers, existing challenges, and coverage needs for Envoy Medical's hearing implant devices. This information will help us advocate for broader insurance coverage.

We encourage you to participate by clicking on the link below!

Fill out the Form!

While there is no guarantee that insurance will pay or provide coverage, your participation is appreciated!

*Once activated, the external Esteem Personal Programmer is not required for daily use.

**Category III CPT codes are temporary codes for emerging technologies, services, and procedures. The inclusion of a descriptor and its associated code number in the CPT code set does not represent endorsement by the American Medical Association of any particular diagnostic or therapeutic procedure/service. Inclusion or exclusion of a procedure/service does not imply any health insurance coverage or reimbursement policy.
