There are several types of middle ear implants, yet all middle ear implants are NOT the same kind or type of device. Some are indicated for sensorineural hearing loss; others are for mixed or conductive hearing loss. Some are active; others are passive. Some are fully implanted; others are partially implanted. Some have MRI conditional approval; others are contraindicated for any meaningful level of MRI testing. Some are osseointegrated and replace part of your hearing anatomy; others are less involved - akin to hearing aids.
*Once activated, the external Esteem Personal Programmer is not required for daily use.
