Remember to switch off your Esteem implant before your MRI and turn it back on afterward. Here's a simple guide to help you through the process.
Prior to having an MRI the Esteem implant must be turned off. This can be done by the Esteem patient or an MRI technician.
To put the Esteem in Standby/Off mode:
1. Turn on the programmer by pressing and holding the "Standby" button for a few moments; the lights will illuminate.
2. Press and hold the "Standby" button again. The green LED light beneath the "Standby" button will illuminate.
3. Locate the 'Transmit" button.
4. Hold the programmer directly over the implanted Esteem device.
5. Press the "Transmit" button. No confirmation tone will be heard.
6. Check the LED under the "Standby" button. If the LED under the "Standby" is steady the Esteem is on standby or off.
7. If the LED is blinking, communication was not successful; repeat steps 2-6.
