Living With the Esteem implant

Monitoring your hearing loss.

The best care is preventative. Given that hearing loss typically progresses over time, it's important to schedule an annual check-up with your Esteem audiologist for fine-tuning.  Esteem audiologists are equipped with the proper training and tools to test and troubleshoot your device's performance, ensuring optimal hearing and monitoring your battery level.

During your visit, your audiologist will test your baseline hearing (hearing levels without the Esteem implant) to determine if your hearing loss has progressed. If necessary, they can adjust your device to meet your evolving needs.

We strongly recommend using your programmer regularly, or at least once a month.  Adjusting your Esteem implant settings can enhance performance in different environments.  Additionally, frequent use of the programmer allows you to monitor battery depletion and know when it needs replacement.
