The standby mode turns the Esteem "OFF". The standby mode can help to preserve the battery life of your Esteem and is a requirement for getting an MRI.
The Esteem implant should be turned off during an MRI. See MRI conditional safety information.
To put the Esteem in Standby/Off mode:
1. Turn on the programmer by pressing and holding the "Standby" button for a few moments; the lights will illuminate.
2. Press and hold the "Standby" button again. The green LED light beneath the "Standby" button will illuminate.
3. Locate the 'Transmit" button.
4. Hold the programmer directly over the implanted Esteem device.
5. Press the "Transmit" button. No confirmation tone will be heard.
6. Check the LED under the "Standby" button. If the LED under the "Standby" is steady the Esteem is on standby or off.
7. If the LED is blinking, communication was not successful; repeat steps 2-6.
